How to Bring Life to your Logos?

In today’s times, when customers have short attention span and even shorter memory retention, logos can make or break a company’s market presence. Thus, most organizations these days put in efforts to come up with unique logos that are attractive enough and at the same time spell out what the company is all about. However, with millions of logos flooding the market scene, do you think it is really that easy to make the customers take note of your logo? No, definitely not! You have to breathe in that extra life into your logos to make them more attractive and noticeable. It is surely not as difficult as you think. Here are some tips to get you started.

Keep it Simple: There is no need whatsoever to get carried away when designing a logo. In fact, the simpler the logo, the easier it is for the customers to recognize and memorize it. Just take a look at Nike logo. It is so simple and at the same time so easily recognizable. The best part is that the logo in itself is enough for the people to recognize the company. Remember that customers get attracted to simple logos rather than the complicated ones.

Double Entendres Rock: Well, double entendres not only seem witty when used in verbal conversations but also in visual designs. Creating a logo that has two or more different meaning that ultimately point out to the same thing is what will impress your customers. Take the logo of Amazon for instance. It spells out the name of the company and has an arrow that starts at A and points to Z, which means that at Amazon offers you anything and everything. If this is not impressive, then what is?

Chuck the Rigidity: It is true that a logo is for keeps. But, this in no way means that you can’t make subtle changes to it with time or as per the need of the hour.  However, if you want to keep this option open, you need to design a logo that is not too rigid. Of course, this would mean that you may have to experiment a bit to come up with a design that can adapt to changes. Use free logo design software for your hit and trial experiments and keep trying till you come up with a logo that can adapt to changes. You need a design that appeals to the audience in all parts of the world and which can be altered if required.

Color it Right: Monochrome is cool but there is no doubt that color has its own appeal. And this is especially true when it comes to logo designs. So, pick some colors that add freshness to your logo and bring out the true character of your organization. However, make sure not to go overboard with colors as too many colors may create a confusing effect. So, choose few colors and color your logo right.

Cliché is Clichéd: With so many companies launching new logos every day, coming up with a unique logo may be really not an easy task. However, there are certain designs that have been done to death and still are being used. You definitely don’t want to be stuck in this rut of clichés. What you need is to experiment with some free logo design software. Take your own sweet time to come up with various designs which do not conform to the tradition. This is what will give your logo a fresh leash of life.

Negative Space for Positive Affect: Negative space within the logo when used in a clever way can make a world of difference to the design and push your customers to take note of the logo. Don’t know what this means? Well, check out the FedEx logo? Have you noticed that there is an arrow between E and X? This is what is known as the clever use of negative space. So, if you haven’t thought of this already, well go ahead and do it now.
There is no doubt that logo design is a challenging task and the high competition adds to its complexity. Thinking out of the box and tickling your creative bone is what is going to help you in bringing life to your logo designs.
